Through discussion with the Township of Tiny, we’re pleased to announce that it has agreed  to provide 500 bags and a truckload of sand to the FLCA at no cost.  This is intended to help our members prepare now for winter and protect your property from potential flooding in the spring.  After the experience this year with the historic high lake level and flooding we are trying to be proactive. The sand and bags are being delivered By September 25. The sand is being added to the remainder of the delivery in the spring in Toanche Park, and the bags are available by contacting Scott Dales through the FLCA general email box at inquiries@farlainlake.ca.  You will need to fill the bags yourselves (no more than half full), bring your own shovels and transport the filled bags to your property. There will also be a waiver to sign.

If you are interested in obtaining bags and sand, please contact Scott now with the number of bags you need and your contact information. A number of requests have already been received so please send your needs in as soon as possible.

A Refresher re Using Sand Bags

• the 25 lb. polypropylene bags available tolerate 1600 hours of sunlight;
• sandbags should be filled only 1/3 to 1/2 full to lie properly during stacking;
• even though partially filled, these bags are heavy so PLEASE watch your backs;
• property owners will need to follow proper disposal of the sand and bags when no longer needed. The bags would go into municipal garbage and sand could be used for landscaping;
• property owners are responsible for any additional supplies such as tarps or pumps;
